As the Jasper wildfire continues to impact the region, many people are asking how they can show their support for the town, its residents, and the wildlife that call this beautiful area home. Here is how you can make a difference during this difficult time.

How You Can Help

1. Donations:

The most immediate way to support those affected by the wildfire is through donations. Several organizations are currently accepting funds to help with relief efforts:

The Canadian Red Cross: The Red Cross is providing vital assistance to those displaced by the fires. Donations can be made through their official website.

Jasper Community Foundation: Donations to this local foundation will go directly toward recovery efforts in Jasper. Visit their website for more details.

2. Active Assistance:

For those in a position to offer more hands-on support, there are a few ways you can get involved:

  • Volunteer Firefighters and Support Teams: Consider volunteering with local fire departments or emergency response teams. Experience is often required, so check with local agencies for details on how you can help.
  • Community Drives: Participate in or organize local drives for essential items such as non-perishable food, clothing, and toiletries for those affected by the fires.

Supporting Affected Animals

Wildfires don’t just affect people—they also impact the local wildlife. Here’s how you can help:

  • Alberta SPCA: The Alberta SPCA is working tirelessly to rescue and care for animals affected by the wildfires. Donations can be made directly to their website.
  • Wildlife Rehabilitation Centers: Consider supporting local wildlife rehabilitation centers, like the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation, which are helping to treat and release animals displaced by the fires.
